Newspaper clipping, broom 62.5"x31"x4.5" 2016 Double Standards questions the constructed standards attributed too gender roles as seen through American history. By dividing the stereotype of the “housewife” in two parts, I intend to explore equality in gender roles, questioning the concept of the “idea woman”. In doing so, exposing the long lasting effect of the construction of the feminine gender role on women’s identities, which is still having an impact on the women of today.
